Setting an Automatic Download Interval in the TCMS V2

FingerTec users verify their fingerprints, passwords or cards at a terminal to report attendance or gain access. The date and time of verification is captured as transaction data and saved into the terminal’s memory. To view the transaction data, you will need to download the transaction data from the terminal into the software to generate attendance data, in-out records and reports. It can be done manually or automatically.

With the set automatic download interval function, you can configure the software to download the transaction automatically. You can determine the desired time and even the time interval to perform the download. To go to the said function, click Devices and select Set automatic download interval.

There are 2 types of function when it comes to automatic download interval:

Fingerprint Template Algorithm Biobridge VX10.0 Cannot Write Into 1K Mifare Card

The fingerprint template algorithm Biobdridge VX10.0 is the latest development from the FingerTec’s R&D team. The new algorithm speeds up the fingerprint verification process as well as maximizing the fingerprint templates capacity to 12,000 for any terminal with FEM600 core board.

All the new multimedia model terminals are already loaded with the Biobridge VX10.0 algorithm. However there is a minor setback with the fingerprint template algorithm and the 1K Mifare card. There is a storage size difference between the algorithm BioBridge VX10.0 and VX9.0. The storage size of the fingerprint template enrolled using the algorithm Biobridge VX10.0 is 3 kilobyte while VX9.0 is 1 kilobyte. The 1K Mifare card can only store up to 1 kilobyte, hence you cannot store the fingerprint template enrolled using algorithm BioBridge VX10.0 into the 1K Mifare card.

For the customers who have purchased the Mifare models with 1K Mifare card, we have a the solution for you:

To copy the fingerprint template enrolled with algorithm Biobdrige VX10.0 into the Mifare card, you will need to use a 4K Mifare card. You will also need to update the terminal with a Mifare firmware update to achieve this. Currently the firmware is still under construction. We will notify the users once the firmware is ready.

Alternatively,

You can change the default algorithm Biobridge VX10.0 to VX9.0 and enroll the fingerprint. By enrolling your fingerprint template using the algorithm Biobridge VX9.0, the storage size will be 1 kilobyte and it can be uses with the 1K Mifare card.

To change the algorithm within the terminals:
  • Face ID 2: Press Menu > System > Fingerprint > Algorithm version > BioBridge VX9.0 > Save.

  • TA100C/AC100C/ I-Kiosk 100/Q2i/TA200 Plus : Press Menu > System > Alg Version > BioBridge VX9.0 > OK

  • I-Kiosk 100 Plus: Press Menu > System > Param Setup > Alg Version> BioBridge VX9.0 > Done

Housekeeping for the TCMS V2

In computing terms, housekeeping is referred to manual or sometimes automated process where the computer is cleaned-up to optimize its performance. Housekeeping commonly involves removing the archived logs and users activities, backing up data and etc. The housekeeping rule applies to the TCMS V2 software too as the software might respond slower or lag if it is carrying too heavy a load of transaction data. This is particularly observed while generating the Attendance sheet. It is recommended to transfer the transaction data from the Attendance Sheet into the History folder once every 3-6 months to attain optimum performance for the TCMS V2 software.

To perform housekeeping for the TCMS V2 software:

1. In Attendance Sheet, click “To History”.

2. Select specific users or select All to choose the users involved to perform the transfer. Define the date range of the transaction data to be transferred to the History folder and click “To History” to initiate the transfer.

Upon completing the transfer, all the previous transaction data will be only available in the History page.

Besides performing housekeeping on the TCMS V2 software, a routine maintenance on the computer will prolong its usage lifetime and mitigate against the gradual performance loss. Below are a few examples to keep the computer in tiptop condition:

  1. Update the computer with the up to date Anti-Virus data files and scan for virus regularly.
  2. Scan and remove Spyware/Adware.
  3. Delete temporary files and browser cache.
  4. Perform Disc Defragmenter on the system volume.
