Steps To Setup Ingress Server And Ingress Client

This tutorial will guide users on setting up the Ingress server program on a server computer, while at the same time installing the Ingress client on multiple computers to be linked back to the server for data management. Read more for the step-by-step guide. 

Before proceeding with the installation, please download the latest version of the Ingress server and Ingress client at the link here as shown in the picture below:



Step 1

Firstly, run the FingerTec Ingress Server installer on the server PC. For the complete steps for installing on the server, you may refer to the below guide at page 7-14:
*IMPORTANT NOTE : Ingress server and Ingress Client must be in the same version to avoid failed connection.

Step 2

After completing the server installation, you will be required to allow port 3306 on your server's Firewall settings. Below are the steps involved:

a) Go to Control Panel and select Windows Firewall.



b) Select Advance settings from the left menu.


c) Click on Inbound Rules, followed by New Rule. 


d) Select Port and press Next. Select TCP, insert 3306 at Specific local ports and press Next again.


e) Select Allow the connection and press Next, followed by ticking on Domain, Private and Public


f) Finally, insert a name for this set of firewall rules as Ingress Server 3306 and press Next


g) Repeat steps d to f with Outbound Rules instead of Inbound Rules to complete the step.

Step 3

After completing Step 2, you can now check the server IP address and start the installation process on the remote PC. 

Below are the steps to check the IP address : 

a) First, press the Start button and type in cmd.


b) Key in ipconfig and you will be able to see your network IP. Please note your server IP for further usages.

*IMPORTANT NOTE : If your computer is connecting to MORE THAN 1 NETWORK, you need to disable other network and only leave 1 LAN connection for your computer to connect to avoid Ingress Client conflict to connect to Ingress Server.


c) After getting result on your IP address, you need to make sure in Ingress server, IP address shows in the Database Configuration is the same with your computer network IP address.


Step 4
Finally, install the Ingress client on each remote PC.

a) Download the Ingress client installation file at the link here.

b) The installation steps are the same as when installing the Ingress server. After the installation, the below window will pop up when switching on Ingress. Key in the Server IP that you had previously checked. 


c) Click Test connection to make sure the system shows Connected to server. Press Save to store the settings. 

d) Voila! You will now be able to continue using the software as usual.

Also, most of their tech devices such as computers are properly stored in a safe place. I think Server Racks are a great option for this type of security.

  2. hi Fingertec support team, have some suggestion if it were possible for the option of locking the door to be also included in the monitoring window i.e you can be able to LOCK the door remotely from the ingress software just as you are able to open and close the door. second automatic time synchronization of the ingressus

  3. hi Fingertec support team, i am did every thing in this article and every thing working fine except ingress client i can login to client without any problem but i cant find any data, or attendence data, and when i create report sheet it is gave me a message (no record found) i did every thing as you mention, but there is no data..
    how i can solve the problem..

      Referring to your problem, please make sure you have create the clocking schedule and assign the group duty roster for dedicated user. Then please download the transaction from the terminal before you generate the Attendance record to view the report.

  4. I cant connect to my ingress server from another computer internally. When i enter the server IP address and and port number, When i click on Test is writes CONNECTED TO SERVER but when click on save, it says PLEASE CHECK YOUR INGRESS SERVER CONNECTION DETAILS. Someone please help me. i have done my port forward for port 3000

    I want to display designation column in the attendance report How?

    actually i am exporting attendance details from attendance sheet itself but while generating in the template itself designation field not there.How to add designation field in order to get in the attendance report while exporting .can you pls suggest

If yes, you will not be able to view the designation option in the export attendance sheet, for your information the template field for export details is fixed, you can only selected option listed in the template configuration [refer http://prntscr.com/dyecos].

      Sorry to inform that we cannot retrieve your MySQL server database because we only can help you to retrieve the password if you forgot the password to enter our Ingress software. For the MySQL database, we don't have any steps to help you reset it.

      Good day.

      First of all, you need to make sure that your server PC only connected to 1 connection. This is to prevent the IP conflict. The IP database should follow your IP from the IP config configuration.

      Next, you need to make sure that the PC that install client version can ping the IP address of your server. If not, the connection between server and client cannot be establish.

      After this already configured, you can test it again whether you can connect the client to the server or not.

      For your info, all the transaction log that downloaded into Ingress software will be stored inside the Data Audit List under Attendance tab > Data Audit List (refer picture http://prntscr.com/i4bp8b). If you wish to view the latest Check In and Check Out time you must create a Clocking Schedule and Group Duty Roster then generate the Attendance Sheet. Regards.

    Good Morning.
    We using H2i device and we use ingress software server client method. Last month we can download the data from the device using ingress software. after that starting from 1st feb till today we cant download data from the device always come the error is in attendance sheet "H2i Total 0 transaction logs downloaded from processed logs of 100000". In Data Audit list dont have the data for this month.

      May I know your current Ingress Software version (Click Ingress icon, then click About US)

      Regarding on your issue:
      1. Please close Ingress Software and Ingress server.exe
      2. Run Ingress DB installer
      3. Run step 1
      4. Click "Optimize Audit Data" / "Database maintenance" button.
      5. Run step 2 and 3
      6. Login back Ingress Software and test to download clocking data.

      Ingress synchronized time base on the server pc. Please sync the device time again via the software. Go to device tab > select device > go to other tab > sync date & time. And then try to disconnect the network cable. If the device keep changing time even after disconnect network cable, then it's due to the CMOS issue. Kindly send email to support@fingertec.com if the issue is caused by the CMOS battery.

    However, may I know the reason of inaccurate time (For example: server-07:00 , device-08:00)?
    Does the setting of pc region effect the time ?

      For your info, when you synchronize the device timing from software it will follow the PC/software timing and not the PC region. For additional info, there is 3 possibilities that will make the device time not accurate and always change.

      1) CMOS battery already weak (need to change)
      2) Device connected to the Webster (Make sure the webster setting is default (0.0.0.0)
      3) Crystal timer at the MCU board already faulty (need to change).

      To turn On the Limit Face : Click Menu > System > Face > Limit Face > set as enable.
      After you enable this option, the device will no longer scan the face automatically.

    Now it doesn’t download daily attendance sheet;

    Current situation - I can do the following:
    • Ping all devices .
    • Check in.
    • Upload users to devices.
    • Restart the devices using the application – (FingerTec Ingress).

    Mon serveur ingress est la version v3.0.2 fonctionne correctement.
    Il y a un problème cote client vu que la version que j'ai est supérieur v3.1.7 donc pourriez vous m'aide à télécharger la version de mon serveur qui est v3.0.2 ou bien celui d'antérieur v3.0.1

    Puisque personnellement sur internet je ne trouve que des versions supérieur.

      Regarding to the issue, please make sure you have login into your PC with full administrator privilege before you can run or install the Ingress software. In the same time, you can try to restart the system services manually by go to Control Panel > Administrator Tools > Services. Restart the Attendance Service, Ingress Service and MySQL service.
      Once completed run the Ingress DB Installer and completed all the step which is Test Connection, Update Connection and Upgrade Database. After that, you can try to run the Ingress program and check the status. Regards.

      In regards to your inquiry, it does not required internet connection for you to connect the device with your PC. You can just connect the device directly to your PC via Ethernet using LAN cable. You need to make sure the IP Address, Subnet mask and the Gateway setting in the device tallies with the local Ethernet network.

I finished the setup of TCMS, added clocking hours and Group Duty Roster but after staff started checking-In, the system is not showing any attendance records though I can see log data under monitoring.       Upon downloaded the logs, you need to generate the attendance sheet before you want to preview the report. Besides that, please make sure you have configured your clocking schedule timing accordingly.

      If the issue still persist, please provide us a copy of your latest backup database for further checking. You may upload the backup database to any sharing platform ( ex: Google Drive, WeTransfer or www.sendspace.com ) then provide us the download link by sending an email to support@fingertec.com

    I am running TCMSv3 and setup two roles for Manager and Administrator with passwords. Everything is working fine. But then my hope was that every time someone tries to access the system, it would prompt for login credentials which is not the case at the moment.

    What could I have missed out?

      Please close the Ingress server, restart 3 services from Task Manager >Services > Attendance Service, Ingress Service, mySQL service).

      After that, please run Ingress dbInstaller and try to open Ingress again.

      First of all, please note that Ingress Server and Ingress Client MUST be in the same version in order for the Ingress Client to work.     we recently deleted the tcm v3 application and we installed the ingress server application and we send the database to your team in order to converting to the ingress sysytem.
    the first problem, when we upload the converted database to the ingress the massege appeared says that the process was sucessful and when we inter the program not see any thing in the program (no names, no schedules)
    thesecond problem when we tried to add devices (face id2, kiosek100) to the program using either 'scan device' or 'add manualy' by intering the same ip adress and commenication key of the devieces in the specified feilds of the program.
    please help us..

      Please try to extract/unzip the database file provided and make sure it is the right file type (mySQL), then restore the database using the extracted file.

      Then, run the Ingress dbinstaller and complete the 3 steps on it.

      For adding device issue, please make sure the device can be ping from your pc and then try again to add the device into the software.

      It is the same steps to install in Windows Server 2019. Definitely to install the Ingress Server on Windows Server 2019 before you are able to install Ingress Client on other workstation. You may refer on chapter 1 from the following link.

    i installed ingress server 4.1.1.0 on Windows Server 2019. the program the devices used Face ID2 firmware Ver 6.60 Mar 15 2017.
    i have 6 devices it connected in a same network how can find a solution to power on and power off the devices from ingress program in specific time

    is it possible to connect fingertec database from HQ to remote location. fingertec server database is running in my remote location. i did port forward [3000 & 3306].

    When i try from HQ, i can successfully test the connect but i am not able to save the connection. it gives error message "Please check your ingress server connection details."
