Steps To Setup Ingress Server And Ingress Client

This tutorial will guide users on setting up the Ingress server program on a server computer, while at the same time installing the Ingress client on multiple computers to be linked back to the server for data management. Read more for the step-by-step guide. 

Before proceeding with the installation, please download the latest version of the Ingress server and Ingress client at the link here as shown in the picture below:



Step 1

Firstly, run the FingerTec Ingress c2.1.4 installer on the server PC. For the complete steps for installing on the server, you may refer to the below guide at page 7-14:


Step 2

After completing the server installation, you will be required to allow port 3306 on your server's Firewall settings. Below are the steps involved:

a) Go to Control Panel and select Windows Firewall.



b) Select Advance settings from the left menu.


c) Click on Inbound Rules, followed by New Rule. 


d) Select Port and press Next. Select TCP, insert 3306 at Specific local ports and press Next again.


e) Select Allow the connection and press Next, followed by ticking on Domain, Private and Public


f) Finally, insert a name for this set of firewall rules as Ingress Server 3306 and press Next


g) Repeat steps d to f with Outbound Rules instead of Inbound Rules to complete the step.

Step 3

After completing Step 2, you can now check the server IP address and start the installation process on the remote PC. Below are the steps to check the IP address:

a) First, press the Start button and type in cmd.


b) Key in ipconfig and you will be able to see your network IP. Please note your server IP for further usages.


Step 4

Finally, install the Ingress client on each remote PC.

a) Download the Ingress client installation file at the link here.

b) The installation steps are the same as when installing the Ingress server. After the installation, the below window will pop up when switching on Ingress. Key in the Server IP that you had previously checked. 


c) Click Test connection to make sure the system shows Connected to server. Press Save to store the settings. 

d) Voila! You will now be able to continue using the software as usual.

  1. This is a great article and very informative. Setting up servers can be tough but it is a very important process. Most companies have complex servers due to the amount of technology being used. Also, most of their tech devices such as computers are properly stored in a safe place. I think Server Racks are a great option for this type of security.

  2. hi Fingertec support team, have some suggestion if it were possible for the option of locking the door to be also included in the monitoring window i.e you can be able to LOCK the door remotely from the ingress software just as you are able to open and close the door. second automatic time synchronization of the ingressus

  3. hi Fingertec support team, i am did every thing in this article and every thing working fine except ingress client i can login to client without any problem but i cant find any data, or attendence data, and when i create report sheet it is gave me a message (no record found) i did every thing as you mention, but there is no data..
    how i can solve the problem..

    1. Hi Ahmad Shouk,
      Referring to your problem, please make sure you have create the clocking schedule and assign the group duty roster for dedicated user. Then please download the transaction from the terminal before you generate the Attendance record to view the report.

  4. I cant connect to my ingress server from another computer internally. When i enter the server IP address and and port number, When i click on Test is writes CONNECTED TO SERVER but when click on save, it says PLEASE CHECK YOUR INGRESS SERVER CONNECTION DETAILS. Someone please help me. i have done my port forward for port 3000

  5. Hi,

    I want to display designation column in the attendance report How?

    actually i am exporting attendance details from attendance sheet itself but while generating in the template itself designation field not there.How to add designation field in order to get in the attendance report while exporting .can you pls suggest

      May I know do you mean that you want to view designation option [User tab - refer http://prntscr.com/dyebwh] in the exporting details?. If yes, you will not be able to view the designation option in the export attendance sheet, for your information the template field for export details is fixed, you can only selected option listed in the template configuration [refer http://prntscr.com/dyecos].

      Sorry to inform that we cannot retrieve your MySQL server database because we only can help you to retrieve the password if you forgot the password to enter our Ingress software. For the MySQL database, we don't have any steps to help you reset it.

    1. Hello Sir,

      Good day.

      First of all, you need to make sure that your server PC only connected to 1 connection. This is to prevent the IP conflict. The IP database should follow your IP from the IP config configuration.

      Next, you need to make sure that the PC that install client version can ping the IP address of your server. If not, the connection between server and client cannot be establish.

      After this already configured, you can test it again whether you can connect the client to the server or not.

    I would like to link 2 fingertec device (model r3) from remote sites to the Hq, using dynamic dns. The server is reside at the Hq with dynamic IP (standard streamyx package)..Is it possible?

      For the remote location, you may use port forwarding or DyDNS to link the device to the main HQ PC installed with the Fingertec software. Please make the sure the device can be pinged from the HQ. For your information, we do not provide direct assistance regarding network support including VPN or port forwarding configurations. As different router requires different network configuration, it is best to get your IT expertise or local network engineer to provide assistance on this.

    I would like have some details regarding remote site device to linked with Server.Currently we have one server and device in same network working fine now we are plan to implement the similar device in different remote site(Public Static IP each location) .So my point is that Can we link that devices to server and have centralized administration from server end

      For the remote location, you may use port forwarding or DyDNS to link the devices to the main HQ PC installed with the Fingertec software.     i done setup like this last week. my hr staff asking that the downloaded data from the device using client ingress where it will save. may i know where i can find that downloaded data? where it saves?

      For your info, all the transaction log that downloaded into Ingress software will be stored inside the Data Audit List under Attendance tab > Data Audit List (refer picture http://prntscr.com/i4bp8b). If you wish to view the latest Check In and Check Out time you must create a Clocking Schedule and Group Duty Roster then generate the Attendance Sheet. Regards.

  13. Hi,
    Good Morning.
    We using H2i device and we use ingress software server client method. Last month we can download the data from the device using ingress software. after that starting from 1st feb till today we cant download data from the device always come the error is in attendance sheet "H2i Total 0 transaction logs downloaded from processed logs of 100000". In Data Audit list dont have the data for this month.

      May I know your current Ingress Software version (Click Ingress icon, then click About US)

      Regarding on your issue:
      1. Please close Ingress Software and Ingress server.exe
      2. Run Ingress DB installer
      3. Run step 1
      4. Click "Optimize Audit Data" / "Database maintenance" button.
      5. Run step 2 and 3
      6. Login back Ingress Software and test to download clocking data.

    May I know that the ingress synchronized time based on the server pc or client pc?
    Why the machine has one more hour different compare to server yesterday?
    Isn't caused by the server pc- region?

      Good day to you.

      Ingress synchronized time base on the server pc. Please sync the device time again via the software. Go to device tab > select device > go to other tab > sync date & time. And then try to disconnect the network cable. If the device keep changing time even after disconnect network cable, then it's due to the CMOS issue. Kindly send email to support@fingertec.com if the issue is caused by the CMOS battery.

    Morning.
    After sync the device time again via software , the device time is correct now.
    However, may I know the reason of inaccurate time (For example: server-07:00 , device-08:00)?
    Does the setting of pc region effect the time ?
    For example (PC Location: US but Actual Location: Malaysia)

    1. Hi Sir,

      For your info, when you synchronize the device timing from software it will follow the PC/software timing and not the PC region. For additional info, there is 3 possibilities that will make the device time not accurate and always change.

      1) CMOS battery already weak (need to change)
      2) Device connected to the Webster (Make sure the webster setting is default (0.0.0.0)
      3) Crystal timer at the MCU board already faulty (need to change).

      To turn On the Limit Face : Click Menu > System > Face > Limit Face > set as enable.
      After you enable this option, the device will no longer scan the face automatically.
