TimeTec Installation – Resolving Error Messages

FingerTec has compiled a list of error messages that occasionally occurs during the TimeTec installation and have documented the solutions to the problems. Resellers are encouraged to take note of these problems and provide support when necessary. Understanding the problems and their solutions can reduce support lead-time, which could then translate to more satisfied customers.

Error 1: Server Error in Application “Default Web Site/ICLOCK”


Solution:

  1. Click Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  2. Click on your computer name and double click on ISAPI and CGI Restrictions.
  3. At the ISAPI and CGI Restrictions menu, set the ASP.NET.4.03… as Allowed.






Error 2: The Open/Download file prompt appears when I click on the TimeTec page.



Solution for Windows XP:

  1. Click Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  2. At the IIS Manager, click on iclock.
  3. Right click the iclock icon and select Properties.
  4. Click Configurations.
  5. In the Mappings tab click Add.
  6. At the Add/Edit Application Extension Mapping, you may browse or insert the location of the ASPNET.regiis.exe file (Select Path C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\ ASPNET.regiis.exe).
  7. Insert .* for the Extension.
  8. Uncheck the tick box Check that file exists.
  9. Click OK to complete the configuration.


Solution for Windows 7:

  1. Click Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  2. At the IIS Manager, click on iclock.
  3. Select Add Wildcard Script Map in the Actions tab.
  4.  An Edit Wildcard Script Map pop out window will appear. You may search or insert the Frame Work ASPNET.ISAP executable path at C:\\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\aspnet_isapi.dll 
  5. Insert the name as wildcard
  6. Click OK to complete the configuration.
